How much does custom basketball league software cost?
It depends on scope. You can choose a fixed-price project or a monthly plan, both based on project size. Teams, programmes, court rental, an app and integrations move the price; a short scoping call gets you a fixed quote. See pricing.
How much does LeagueApps cost, and what fees does it add?
LeagueApps doesn't publish prices on its site. Third-party listings cite a one-time fee of about $495 per feature, then $1–5 per registration plus 2–3% card processing, and transaction fees are the complaint reviewers raise most on G2 and Capterra. Ask for a quote for your league before comparing.
What is the best software for a youth basketball league, and when is custom better?
LeagueApps, SportsEngine, TeamSnap and Jersey Watch all run youth leagues well up to a point. Custom makes sense when per-registration fees add up, when you need court rental, programmes and leagues in one system, or when you want your own app and data. For small leagues, a subscription is often enough.
Can one platform run court rentals, programmes and leagues?
Yes, and it is the main reason facilities come to us. Packaged tools tend to do one part well: Swift's own comparison notes it doesn't schedule leagues or tournaments, and LeagueApps reviewers cite missing facility tools. A custom platform shares one calendar, one family account and one set of reports across all three.
Can parents pay by card, bank transfer or cash?
Yes. Cards through Stripe, bank transfers or direct debit where your market uses them, and cash recorded at the desk, all on one family balance. You decide whether the programme absorbs card fees or passes them on, and failed payments retry with a reminder.
Do we own the code and the player data?
Yes. Your player, family and payment data is always yours, held in your own database and exportable at any time. On a fixed-price project, the source code becomes yours once it is paid in full. There is no per-registration licence and no lock-in.
Can it track player development and stats?
Yes. Coaches record attendance, skills assessments, notes and video; game stats are entered courtside and roll up into player profiles. Players and parents see progress across a season, and you decide what is shared with scouts or college coaches.
Does it integrate with AAU or federation membership checks?
Where the organisation provides access, yes: AAU membership numbers can be checked at registration in the US, and federation player IDs elsewhere. Rules differ by federation, so we confirm the route during scoping; otherwise we store the ID and expiry date and remind families to renew.
Is it a real app on the App Store under our name?
Yes. Real iOS and Android apps, published under your programme's name, icon and developer accounts, with one app for parents, players and coaches. If a mobile web app covers your needs, we'll tell you and save you the cost.
How long does it take to build basketball league or academy software?
Timelines depend on project size. Your exact timeline, broken into milestones, comes with the fixed quote; we time launches between seasons.
Can we migrate from LeagueApps, SportsEngine or TeamSnap?
Yes. We import players, families, teams and history from exports, keep your domain so existing links still work, and switch between seasons. Parents set a new password the first time they sign in; their details and children's records are already there.
How much does it cost to start a basketball academy or facility?
Published 2026 guides put an indoor court build or conversion at $50,000–150,000 or more, with flooring at $15–25 per square foot and liability insurance at $500–2,000 a year. An academy without its own gym costs far less. Software can start with registration and payments and grow with the programme.
