How much does a custom sports club app cost?
It depends on scope. You can choose a fixed-price project or a monthly plan, both based on project size. Features, connected systems, venues and languages move the price; a short scoping call gets you a fixed quote. See pricing. See our padel app development cost guide.
How long does it take to build a club app?
Timelines depend on project size, plus app store review. Your exact timeline comes with the fixed quote. For comparison, published guides put a custom padel app at 3–7 months.
Do we own the source code?
Yes. The code sits in a repository your club can access, and on a fixed-price project it becomes yours once the project is paid in full. Member and booking data are always yours, in your own database, so you can change developer without starting again.
Is the app published under our club's name and developer account?
Yes. The app appears in the App Store and Google Play under your club's name and your own developer accounts, which cost $99 a year with Apple and $25 once with Google. We handle submission and updates on your behalf.
Why do white-label template apps get rejected by Apple?
Apple's guidelines 4.2.6 and 4.3 discourage apps generated from a template or duplicating other apps, and developer forum threads show white-label apps rejected on those grounds, even from a client's own account. A custom app built for your club avoids that risk.
Can members book and pay in the app with no commission?
Yes. Bookings and memberships are paid through your own payment provider account, such as Stripe, with cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay or local methods such as Bizum or SEPA direct debit. We take no commission, so the only fees are the provider's, and payouts reach your bank on the provider's schedule.
Can we move from a shared or branded SaaS app to our own?
Yes. We export members, bookings and credits from your current platform, build the new app and system, and run both side by side until members have switched. Members download your app once and sign in; their details and credits are already there.
Can we keep our Playtomic or MATCHi listing and run our own app?
Yes. Many clubs stay listed on a marketplace so new players can find them, while members and regulars book in the club's own app with no commission. Availability is shared where the marketplace allows it, so a court is never sold twice.
Can the app send WhatsApp and push notifications?
Yes. Push notifications come from the app itself, and WhatsApp messages go from your club's own WhatsApp Business account using approved templates, to members who have opted in. Members choose which channel they want for confirmations, waitlist offers and club news.
Does it work on iOS, Android and the web?
Yes. We build iOS and Android apps from one code base, usually with React Native or Flutter, so both platforms get the same features at the same time. The same booking and account features are also available on the web for members who don't want to install anything.
Can bookings in the app open doors and switch on lights?
Yes, where your door controllers and lighting offer an interface. A booking can put a QR pass in the app that opens the door only for that slot and switches the court lights on and off with the calendar, so early and late sessions run without staff.
What does a club app cost to run after launch?
Running costs are hosting, the store developer accounts, and updates for new iOS and Android versions and store rules. After a fixed-price build we offer a support plan priced by project size, so the app keeps working as phones and store requirements change.
Can we make a club app ourselves for free?
You may be able to start with an app builder or a free plan, which can suit a small club with simple needs. Check the limits, branding, app store publishing and who controls your data. A custom app makes more sense when you need your own rules, bookings or payments.
